Who Are We? (And What Exactly Are We?)
Vesperman Farms is an ever changing place. In just the span of one month, we can be any and all of the following:
- A pumpkin patch/corn maze (family fall fun)
- A wedding and events venue
- A fundraising partner for an organization
- A business meeting space
- A breakfast place
- A place for holiday crafting
- An ice cream shoppe
Some weeks our identity changes multiple times. We operate one way for weddings and events and a completely different way for fall season and a completely different way for all the other things we do. Some days, we have 2,000 people - mostly families - visiting us to buy pumpkins, go through the corn maze, and make memories. Other days, the barn is completely filled with bags of popcorn and boxes of donuts to ship out to our latest fundraising partner. Other days, we are dressed in black and ready to serve 250 family and friends a formal meal and celebrate the beginning of their loved ones' marriage. And then other days, the Easter bunny is here to help kids find eggs, serve them a hearty breakfast, and pose for photos.
As an employee, that means two things:
First, the farm is always FUN. Now, we work in the people-pleasin' business, so some days can be stressful. Feeding that many people, making sure everyone has memorable and wonderful experiences, and keeping everything running smoothly are all difficult tasks. We strive at every moment to help people celebrate their moments; to make sure everyone feels welcomed at the farm; and to keep our customers' experiences positive, happy, and enjoyable. And we count on you - our employees - to do this! Customer service is a hard job, absolutely, but it's also one of the most rewarding. You will find a lot of joy in watching kids feed the goats, smoosh their faces up against the windows to watch us make donuts, and ride the zip line. You will feel so good at the end of a long wedding day when everyone has enjoyed the meal, complimented you on your service, and you saw the bride and the groom smiling at each other in only the way newlyweds do. And you'll love sampling all the donuts we make as we help organizations raise funds for their important causes.
Being such a dynamic place also means that we would really like for you to be flexible in your role and excited about all the different roles you can (and probably will!) play at the farm. Yes, you were probably hired to do one thing - wagon train driver, event staff, fall retail checkout - and, yes, you can absolutely stay just in that role if you're most comfortable doing that. But one of the best things about the farm is that you don't have to stay in that one lane forever. There are always opportunities to branch out and do something new. Because we do so many different things on the farm, we love for our employees to wear many different hats as well. Welcome to the only job you'll NEVER get bored at! Here are the farm, you can evolve into many things.
