Frequently Asked Questions
What do you want to know about Vesperman Farms? Find your answer here!
Are there restrooms?
Yes, we have indoor and outdoor restroom facilities.
How do I know you are open for sure?
Our hours are listed here. Check our website for current information or like us on Facebook for updates. We will update both in a weather situation.
What happens if it rains?
We operate mostly outdoors and have no control over the weather. If there is a forecast for rain, come prepared. We still operate in misty rain conditions. If there is a forecast or threat for severe weather, we will evacuate for the safety of you and and our staff. Check our Facebook page or website for current status and announcements regarding weather conditions.
What age group should come?
We offer fun for all ages - the activities are great for younger children, while the corn maze is great for older kids and adults. Our goal is for you to have an experience that everyone can enjoy and everyone leaves with great memories!
What should I bring when I visit?
A comfortable pair of shoes, a camera, maybe some sunscreen and bug spray, and a sense of fun!
Do I need to call ahead for donuts?
We make our donuts every day while open for fall season. It's never a bad idea to call ahead, but unless you have a large order, we shouldn't have any trouble filling your donut order without a heads up.
RESERVATIONS and FEES
Do you take credit cards?
Yes, we take most major credit cards. We also accept cash and check payments.
Do I have to pay for parking?
No, we provide free parking.
Do I need to make a reservation to come to the corn maze?
Not if you come during regular business hours (see hours). We conduct tours for school field trips that require reservation (see school tours). We also hold events during fall season that require reservation (see events during fall season). If you have a large group planning on coming out during normal hours, it's always a good idea to call and give us a heads up!
Do I have to pay admission if I don’t want to walk through the maze?
Yes, there is a general admission for all farm activities. The admission cost does include the maze. There is no admission fee to visit our retail space in the barn or to pick up your favorite fall season treats - donuts, kettle corn, caramel apples, and ice cream.
FOOD and PICNIC
Can I bring in food?
No, we do not allow carry-in food. The only exception is birthday cake or favors for one of our birthday party or private event packages. We do have full concessions with a lot of delicious fall food options!
Are there picnic tables?
Yes, there are picnic tables throughout the grounds. We also have seating available in our main barn and in other indoor areas at the farm.
Do you have something to eat there?
Yes, we have our Farm Kitchen with a lot of fall food options, from hot dogs to brats to hamburgers. We have kettle corn, caramel apples, and of course, our apple cider donuts! Plus ice cream by the scoop or pint! Soft drinks, cider, and other hot drinks are also available for purchase.
Can I shoot the cannon?
No, only a Vesperman Farms staff member can shoot the cannon. You have to be brave enough to climb it, which few people are!
Are pets allowed?
Dogs are allowed as long as they are well behaved and on a leash.
Is alcohol allowed on-site?
No alcohol is allowed on-site during fall season.
Is smoking allowed on-site?
No smoking is allowed on-site during fall season.
Can I just drop my kids off and come back later?
No, all children must be supervised by an adult when engaging in farm activities. This is for their safety.
Can we get off the paths and cut through the corn?
No. We work very hard each year to bring the best maze possible and ask that everyone follow the posted rules, which includes staying on the pathways. If you are unable to follow these rules, you will be asked to leave. We are all here to have a good time, so please enjoy the corn maze within the pathways and do not destroy it for others.
Is there a schedule for tractor rides? Where do I get on the tractor?
Generally if it's a busy day, the tractors are running all the time. A ride usually starts every 15-45 minutes. Wagons load and unload on the north end of the barn (closest to the parking lot).
THE CORN MAZE
How long will this take?
It varies each year with each design and with each person, but generally 30-90 minutes.
What are the paths like?
The paths are clear and good for walking. They are stroller accessible, but a walking/jogging stroller is recommended. Some areas are difficult for a wheelchair to pass through. The exit to the maze is a bridge with steps, although you can exit through the entrance.
How big is the maze?
We have about 5 acres and about 2-3 miles of walking paths, which vary slightly every year.
What happens if I get lost?
We have staff available to help in the event someone gets lost. We recommend that everyone stay on the cleared pathways and that groups stay together. Children should be supervised by an adult when in the corn maze.
Is the maze lighted at night?
Unless special arrangements are made, we do not allow people in the maze area at night.
What age group should come?
Any age can participate in the corn maze. Children should be supervised and accompanied by an adult. We do have a mini corn maze for small children.
Is the corn maze haunted?
No, we do not offer a haunted maze.
Once inside the corn maze do I just walk around?
Basically, yes. We provide a map and pencils to help you troubleshoot and give you guidance, but the fun is figuring out, well, how to get out!
